The Ruhr-Eder GeoRadroute opens up the Sauerland and Waldeck regions in a special way. The route runs through the picturesque valleys of the Ruhr and Eder rivers and also uses former railroad lines. A central element of the tour is the Edersee, one of the largest reservoirs in Germany, whose watery landscape invites you to relax. The route also leads through the GrenzWelten National Geopark, which provides fascinating insights into the history of the earth and the formative development of the landscape. Here, 400 million years of geological history come to life, for example at the Korbach Fissure, a world-famous fossil site. The cycle tour offers the opportunity to experience the geological, historical and cultural development on the eastern edge of the Rothaargebirge at first hand and to develop a profound understanding of this unique natural and cultural landscape. It offers a variety of natural and cultural experiences that enrich the active exploration of the border region between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hessen.
