From Dortmund, the RE 57 normally takes you directly to the starting point of the RuhrtalRadweg in Winterberg (Winterberg(Westf) stop) without changing trains.
Please always check your connection on a daily basis before starting your journey, as individual sections of the route may be closed and rail replacement services may be used or the timetable may change.
You can find up-to-date information on connections at www.zuginfo.nrw and you can also request up-to-date information on route connections (e.g. the RE57) by e-mail.
From 17.04. to 02.05.2026 there will be additional bicycle buses from Dortmund Hbf to Winterberg (Westf) on Fridays and Saturdays.
Service days in detail:
April: 17.+18.04. and 24.+25.04.2026
May: 01.+02.05.2026
The additional buses have a bicycle trailer and run without intermediate stops from Dortmund main station to Winterberg (Westf).
Passengers without bicycles can also use this bus to a limited extent, but passengers with bicycles always have priority for transportation on the bicycle bus.
Note: Please also note that construction work is taking place between Arnsberg and Meschede at the same time.
Please note that many passengers with bicycles use this line during the cycling season from April to October. Bicycle transport cannot be guaranteed. This generally depends on the space available.
On weekends and around public holidays in May and June, as well as during the vacations in NRW, experience has shown that there are particularly large numbers of cyclists. On these days, additional capacity is sometimes provided on the trains and additional buses with bicycle trailers run.
The RE 17 from Hagen in the direction of Warburg runs parallel to the RE 57 from Dortmund between Fröndenberg and Bestwig. For cyclists traveling from the south, it is advisable to travel from Cologne to Hagen to avoid changing trains at the busy Dortmund main station. From Hagen, you can take the RE 17 to Sauerland and then change trains in Olsberg to reach Winterberg.
Please help to use the available capacity on the trains as space-savingly as possible by observing the following instructions:
